China shows off its new fighter-attack jet

At the forthcoming Zhuhai airshow, China will exhibit its specialized electronic-attack aircraft for the first time.

The Shenyang J-16D jet has been placed in the static exhibition section of the Guangdong Province airshow ahead of the event, which will take place from September 28 to October 3.

The J-16D is a twin-seat multirole attack fighter based on the J-16, which is a development of the J-11B interceptor and the Russian Sukhoi Su-30MK-series.

The People’s Liberation Army Air Force, or PLAAF, and the People’s Liberation Army Navy, or PLAN, have both received Su-30MKK and Su-30MK2 aircraft.

Other new aircraft types will be unveiled at this year’s exhibition, which has been postponed from its planned November 2020 date owing to the epidemic, according to a Chinese defense ministry official.

The WZ-7 jet-powered high altitude unmanned aircraft, as well as China’s J-20 stealth fighter, will be among the other debutants.
