On arrival at the Corps Headquarters, Gen Bajwa was received by Commander Peshawar Corps Lt Gen Faiz Hamid.

The visit to Peshawar HQ came at a time when country is facing turbulent Afghanistan on its western border. The Taliban takeover of the country has sent waves of refugees to neighboring countries, especially Pakistan. Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan is already grieving as a country has been blocked from receiving any foreign aid soon after the Taliban Takeover.

Although, aid has been flowing now in the country through various aid organizations and United Nations efforts to avoid a humanitarian crisis. Meanwhile, Pakistan and other Muslim countries have been struggling to send financial help through OIC. Pakistan has been key in rallying the world to come to aid Afghan people during the harsh winter season in the country.

Pakistan has also been worried about increased security threats stemming from Afghanistan as Baloch separatists, TTP and ISKP have increased attacks inside the country.
