Greece takes delivery of 1st of 18 French Rafale fighter aircrafts

French aerospace firm “Dassault Aviation” has delivered two rafale Omnirole fighter aircrafts to Greece in an official ceremony, held today at the Dassault Aviation Flight Test Center in Istres, France.
This first delivery comes successfully only after six months following the signature of the Contract for the acquisition of 18 Rafale. l
Rafale would be a strategic game change for Greece. Rafale will pose a serious threat to Turkish Air Force and Turkish Navy.

Armaments:
Rafale fighter aircrafts will be armed with meteor, MICA air-to-air missile and Storm shadow air launched cruise missile. Amid tension with turkey, these Rafales strengthen the military might of Hellenic air force.
For maritime strike role, these rafale can carry Exocet AM-39 Anti-ship missiles. Exocet is also part of arms deal between France and Greece.

Recently, Egypt and Croatia also signed agreements for the procurement of Rafale omnirole fighter aircrafts. Till now, India also received 26 fighters out of 36 jets.
