Taliban under the regime of Mullah Omar

Taliban under the regime of Mullah Omar

Muhammad Omar is commonly known as Mullah Omar, was the pioneer commander and founder of the Taliban. He was born to a poor family in Chah-i-Himmat village Khakrez District Kandahar province Afghanistan.

His birth is not confirmed yet, some sources say that he was born from 1950 to 1953, while others say he was born in 1960-1962.
He attended Darul-Uloom Haqania, located in Akora Khattak, District Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.

This is the same Darul-Uloom from where several senior Taliban leaders get the education. Akhtar Mansoor also graduated from this institute.

Historical Background:
Mullah Omar fought against Soviet Union under the command of Naik Muhammad of Hizb-e-Islami. Mullah Omar was one of the Mujahid in a few others who did not fight against the communist regime of Najib Ulla, between 1989 and 1992. He was wounded four times.

Withdraw of USSR in 1989 and collapse of Najib Ulla regime in 1992 saw chaos in Afghanistan. Omar went back to madrassa at Singesar. In Singesar, he had a dream one night in which a woman told him “We need your help. You must rise. You must end the chaos. Allah will help you.”

Mullah Omar gathered 50 madrassa’s students known as “Taliban” in Pashto. His recruits came from madrassas located in Afghanistan and the Afghan refugee camp in Pakistan.

Taliban first started capturing from South-Western Afghanistan and extended their influence. In September 1995, they captured the province of Herat bordering Iran. They captured the Afghan capital Kabul, overthrowing the regime of president Burhan Uddin Rabbani, that resisted the Soviet Union occupations. By 1998, the Taliban were in control of almost 90 percent of Afghanistan.

Incident of 9/11:
When 9/11 took place, the attention of the world diverted toward Afghanistan. Taliban were accused of providing a sanctuary for the prime suspects, Osama Bin Laden and his Al-Qaeda movement.

On October 7, 2001, a US military coalition with NATO launched attacks in Afghanistan. By the first week of December, the Taliban regime had collapsed. The group leader, Mullah Muhammad Omar, and the other senior figures including Bin Laden evaded. Many leaders reportedly took refuge in Quetta, Pakistan, from where they guided the Taliban. However, this accusation was rejected by Pakistan.

Conclusion:
It seems like history will repeat itself in Afghanistan once again. This time, the Taliban would be led by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, also called Mullah Baradar Akhund or Mullah Brother, a co-founder of the Taliban Afghanistan.

He was the deputy of Mullah Mohammed Omar and was considered as the right hand of Mullah Omar. Future would be full of surprises and biggest surprise might be WW3.
