US Marine’s MV-22B Osprey Crashes In Norway

A US Marine’s MV-22B Osprey crashed on Friday during a training mission in Arctic Norway, local officials said. US Marines confirmed that “an incident has occurred involving a Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey aircraft,” and that an investigation is underway.

The fate of 4 people is still unknown. US Marines along with the Norwegian Government are searching for lost US Marine’s MV-22B. According to Norwegian officials, the Osprey’s last known location was over the Saltfjellet mountains, a large range roughly 100 miles south of the airbase. Missing MV-22 Osprey was assigned to II Marine Expeditionary Force (II MEF).

The aircraft was conducting a training mission when it disappeared from radar. Later, Norwegian authorities found the crash site but are unable to reach it by air. Search and Rescue helicopter assigned to the Norwegian Air Force and a P-3C Orion maritime surveillance aircraft are involved in the search mission for missing MV-22B.
