Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has completed the acquisition of HELA Systems, an Indian radar and electronic warfare systems provider, on July 9, 2023. HELA Systems, now a subsidiary of IAI, will play a vital role in providing comprehensive Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services for another IAI subsidiary in India, ELTA Systems. This strategic move by IAI underscores its commitment to supporting the Indian government’s “Atmanirbhar Bharat” (Make in India) initiative, aimed at strengthening India’s indigenous defense capabilities.
Yoav Turgeman, Vice President of IAI and CEO of ELTA, highlighted the strategic significance of the acquisition, stating, “The acquisition of HELA Systems reflects our strategic transformation to provide fast direct access to ELTA’s superior solutions, fully aligning with India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision of achieving self-reliance.
