Japan Steel Works Signs Agreement with Patria to Produce AMV XP Vehicles in Japan

Japan Steel Works Ltd. (JSW) has signed a license agreement with Patria to locally produce AMV XP 8×8 vehicles for the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force. This agreement will enable Japan Steel Works Ltd. (JSW) to locally produce these vehicles in Japan.

In December 2022, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force selected Patia’s AMV XP 8×8 vehicles to replace type-96 8×8 vehicles. Both parties have not disclosed the number of vehicles in the agreement or worth of agreement. Patria has worked for the Japan’s WAPC programme since 2018 and it has also established a local subsidiary, Patria Japan Ltd., to support its activities in Japan.

Patria AMV XP 8×8 vehicle has a top speed of 100 km/h and is powered by a type 6 in-line diesel engine. Its maximum combat weight is almost 32000 Kg with a maximum payload of 15000 kg.
