MiG-21 Bison aircraft crashes in Rajasthan, pilot safe; IAF orders inquiry

A MiG-21 Bison fighter aircraft assigned to an operational Squadron of Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed in Rajasthan during a training sortie on Wednesday.

According to initial details, Pilot ejected safely.

Indian Air Force said in a tweet that,
At around 1730 hrs today, an IAF MiG-21 Bison aircraft airborne for a training sortie in the western sector, experienced a technical malfunction after take off. The pilot ejected safely. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause.

GDI Comments: 

This is the 4th consecutive crash of Indian MiG-21 fighter aircrafts, this year. Currently Indian Air Force is operating 120-130 MiG-21 Fighter Aircrafts. Indian Air Force inducted 1st MiG-21 in her fleet in 1963. Some of MiG-21 fighter aircrafts were completely destroyed during Indo-Pak War, 1965.
