An F-35B Lightning II fighter jet belonging to the U.S. military crashed near Albuquerque International Airport in New Mexico on Tuesday. The pilot was able to eject timely and is currently hospitalized with serious injuries. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
This particular F-35B unit was on a delivery flight from Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, Texas, to Edwards Air Force Base in California. It had made a stop at Albuquerque for refueling where it crashed shortly after take-off. This incident will expectedly trigger a revaluation of quality and safety measures, as this is the 13th such incident involving an F-35 manufactured by Lockheed Martin.
