Karaok Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM), developed by the Turkish defense contractor, Roketsan, completed the test firings. Turkish Defense Industry (SSB) President, Haluk Görgün also made the following statement regarding KARAOK’s test firings: “KARAOK has once again proven the effectiveness and capacity of the Turkish defense industry with the tests it completed under the most difficult conditions. Our national defense systems increase our security and deterrence power with their capabilities in the field. Such innovative solutions are solid steps taken for an independent and strong Turkey. I congratulate our subcontractors, our presidency, and Roketsan employees who took part in our project for this important success. Let’s continue to work non-stop for Turkey’s future.”
KARAOK is a single man-portable, fire-and-forget & short-range Anti Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) developed by Turkish firm “Roketsan“. The missile is armed with a tandem warhead and has a striking range of 2500 meters. This missile can be fired in top or direct attack modes. KARAOK Anti Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) weighs less than 16 kilograms, including the missile and launching tube. The weapon system is effective both day and night due to its Imaging Infrared Seeker. This weapon system achieved Initial Operational Capability (IOC) in 2020. This system will be inducted into the Turkish Army in 2022.
This system has been inducted into the Turkish Army. Moreover, Roketsan also won a contract from the Malaysian Ministry of Defense to supply 108 Karaok Anti Tank Guided Missiles (ATGM) to the Royal Malaysian Army.
