The Brazilian Navy’s Marine Corps, in collaboration with SIATT, successfully launched the MANSUP (Surface-Launched Anti-Ship Missile) from a land-based platform for the first time in December 2024. This milestone marks a significant advancement in Brazil’s national security, positioning the MANSUP missile for integration and deployment in littoral defense operations.
The MANSUP missile, a high-precision weapon system, is designed to safeguard Brazil’s territorial waters from maritime threats, particularly hostile warships. The successful test highlights the missile’s versatility, as it is now capable of being launched from both land-based and naval platforms, providing a flexible and powerful defense capability.
One of the key innovations is the missile’s integration with the artillery rocket system. This enhancement will allow military personnel to target maritime threats with remarkable accuracy, significantly bolstering Brazil’s coastal defense operations. This system’s launch is poised to extend Brazil’s capacity for threat deterrence, contributing to both national security and regional stability.
Paulo Salvador, Director at SIATT, emphasized the importance of this integration, stating, “This integration provides a more comprehensive and robust solution for littoral protection and threat deterrence. It is a solution that can also be offered internationally with the MANSUP as its centerpiece.”
Furthermore, Robson Duarte, Managing Partner at SIATT, added, “With the MANSUP missile, Brazil strengthens its ability to protect its coastal areas, especially in regions of significant economic and strategic importance. This defense system can also be integrated with other platforms, such as radar systems and naval units. In Brazil’s case, it can receive information from SisGAAz (Blue Amazon Management System) for missile launches.”
