CAVS Mortar Variant Development

Patria, a leading Finnish defense company, and Germany have signed an agreement for the development of the Mortar variant of Patria’s Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) program. The scope of the work package includes building CAVS NEMO and CAVS mortar command & control variants, their integration with German mission systems, and the qualification of the entire system to German customer requirements.  The value of the agreement is approximately 50 million Euros.

CAVS programme based on Patria 6×6 for Germany proceeds: Patria, DSL and FFG join forces

The CAVS NEMO variant integrates the commercially available Patria 6×6 vehicle with Patria’s NEMO 120 mm turreted mortar system, both of which are industry leaders in their respective categories. Patria has secured orders for over 800 Patria 6×6 vehicles and has delivered more than 200. The program remains open to European nations with similar equipment needs, subject to the mutual agreement of participating countries.

“Patria is very pleased to see Germany signing the first national CAVS variants development and qualification agreement. The 120 mm turreted mortar variant adds new performance to the international CAVS program, and we trust that other participants of the program will be very interested in this advanced capability. The development and qualification of these new CAVS variants will be done in close cooperation with the German industry, and the future serial production will be realized with our earlier published industrial partners KNDS, FFG, and JWT“, says Jukka Holkeri, Executive Vice President, Global, Patria.

The Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) program is a multinational initiative aimed at developing a versatile 6×6 armoured vehicle platform to enhance mobility, protection, and interoperability among participating nations. Led by Patria, the program leverages local industry capabilities for production and support, ensuring a robust security of supply. Open to European countries with aligned requirements, CAVS enables cost-effective development and integration of mission-specific variants, such as the newly introduced CAVS NEMO mortar system.
