AeroVironment (AV), a leader in autonomous solutions, has introduced its next-generation uncrewed aircraft system (UAS), the JUMP 20-X, at the 2025 International Defence Exhibition & Conference (IDEX) in Abu Dhabi. Designed for modern warfare, the JUMP 20-X sets a new standard for autonomous maritime operations, offering unmatched versatility, precision, and operational efficiency.
The JUMP 20-X is a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) medium uncrewed aircraft system (MUAS) engineered to enhance shipboard UAS operations. Equipped with a heavy-fuel engine that supports multiple fuel types, it simplifies refueling logistics and increases mission flexibility. With an impressive 13-hour flight endurance, beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) connectivity, and a modular 30-pound multi-payload capacity, the JUMP 20-X is capable of conducting a range of critical missions, including Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Electronic Warfare (EW), and precision strikes.

The JUMP 20-X’s future-proof design features an open-architecture framework, making it compatible with a wide range of military networks and technologies. This ensures its seamless integration with joint, allied, and coalition forces for real-time mission adaptability.
Leveraging AI-powered autonomy, the JUMP 20-X is capable of precise operations even in challenging environments, including fast-moving ships and rough seas. AV’s SPOTR-Edge technology enhances its capabilities with automated object detection and classification, improving situational awareness and tactical decision-making.
Shane Hastings, AV’s vice president and general manager of Medium Uncrewed Aircraft Systems, remarked, “The JUMP 20-X is more than just a UAS—it’s a force multiplier that redefines maritime and expeditionary UAS operations with unmatched endurance, autonomy, and versatility.”
