ToggleGenesis Program: Pioneering Oman’s Space Heritage
At the core of Etlaq’s mission is the Genesis Program, a pioneering initiative launched in 2024 to establish Oman’s national space launch heritage. Inspired by the nation’s seafaring legacy, the Genesis Program represents a natural evolution in transitioning Oman into a spacefaring future.
Originally developed as a proof of concept for the National Space Services Company’s (NASCOM) Duqm-1 mission, the Genesis Program aims to facilitate numerous test launches from 2025 to 2027. By working with companies operating suborbital and experimental launch vehicles, Etlaq is laying the foundation for full-scale orbital launch operations.
The program is designed for rapid deployment, allowing for flexible launch scheduling while upholding the highest safety and sustainability standards.
Commitment to Safety and Sustainability
Ensuring safety and sustainability remains a top priority for Etlaq Spaceport. Each of the five planned test launches in 2025 will adhere to strict safety protocols and environmental considerations. The spaceport’s strategic location in Wilayat Al Duqm provides a controlled exclusion zone, minimizing risks and maximizing launch efficiency.
“Safety is our top priority. Every mission will be conducted with rigorous risk assessments to ensure operational integrity without compromising mission success,” an Etlaq spokesperson emphasized during the conference.
Strategic Agreements and Industry Partnerships
Government Collaboration: NASCOM & MTCIT
- The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) signed an MoU with NASCOM, designating it as a “Qualified Entity” for spaceport development. This move aligns with Oman’s National Space Sector Policy (2023-2033), strengthening its position as a regional space hub.
European Partnership: PLD Space Collaboration
- Etlaq signed a strategic agreement with Spanish launch provider PLD Space to facilitate the launch of MIURA 5 from Oman. This marks a significant milestone in European-Omani space collaboration.
Satellite & Ground Station Support: MoU with SatMENA
- An MoU was signed with SatMENA, a key satellite communications provider, to enhance ground station services and operational support for upcoming launches.
New Brand Identity for Etlaq & Oman Society for Astronomy and Space
- Reflecting its expanding global vision, Etlaq unveiled a refreshed brand identity during the conference. The Oman Society for Astronomy and Space also introduced a new brand identity, aligning with the nation’s growing space ambitions.
With these advancements, Etlaq Spaceport is not only cementing Oman’s place in the global space industry but also driving international collaboration in the next era of space exploration.
