EDGE and CMN NAVAL Announce Multi-Billion Euro Joint Venture to Boost Naval Capabilities

EDGE, a leading advanced technology and defense group, and CMN NAVAL, a renowned naval shipbuilding company, have agreed to establish AD NAVAL (ADN), a new Abu Dhabi-based shipbuilding joint venture. The JV, valued at approximately EUR 7 billion, will focus on designing and building advanced naval vessels, including corvettes, offshore patrol vessels (OPVs), high-speed interceptors, trimarans, and landing craft.

EDGE will hold a 51% stake in AD NAVAL and will collaborate with CMN NAVAL on sales, engineering, and commercial activities. This partnership will significantly expand EDGE’s naval capabilities, enhancing operational performance through advanced logistics and combat systems integration.

Key Highlights:

Strategic Partnership: EDGE and CMN NAVAL will work under an exclusivity agreement on high-value small to mid-size naval vessels.
Advanced Shipbuilding: AD NAVAL will design and build corvettes, OPVs, interceptors, and other naval platforms.
Combat Systems Integration: EDGE’s smart weapons, radar, and autonomous systems will be integrated into the vessels.
Global Supply Chain: EDGE will benefit from CMN NAVAL’s advanced Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) system, improving cost efficiency and maintenance.
Job Creation: The JV will create direct and indirect employment opportunities in the UAE and globally.

Strategic Vision

Hamad Al Marar, EDGE Group Managing Director & CEO, stated that the partnership reflects EDGE’s strategy of expanding through international collaboration. “This JV will enable us to combine expertise and share technology, reinforcing EDGE’s position as a leader in naval innovation,” he said.

Pierre Balmer, Chairman of CMN NAVAL, added that the partnership will drive sustainable growth and technological advancement. “By combining our shipbuilding expertise with EDGE’s defense technologies, we aim to set new industry benchmarks,” he said.

The JV follows an initial agreement signed at IDEX 2025, where both companies laid the groundwork for joint development of cutting-edge naval platforms and system integration. This strategic collaboration positions EDGE and CMN NAVAL at the forefront of global naval innovation.
