Patria to Invest €40 Million to Expand Armoured Vehicle Production in Hämeenlinna

Finish leading defense company, Patria has announced a €40 million investment to expand its armoured vehicle production capacity at its Hämeenlinna facility. The expansion will include the construction of a new production facility, a surface treatment area, and upgrades to existing infrastructure.

The expansion is expected to nearly double the production volume of armoured vehicles at Hämeenlinna. Construction work preparations have already begun, and the new facilities are set to be fully operational by 2027.

“Patria’s order stock has grown significantly, driven by strong demand for our armoured vehicle projects. The expansion of the Hämeenlinna production facility will allow us to accelerate the delivery of existing orders while preparing for future contracts and new product development, including weapon systems and tracked vehicle manufacturing,” said Mikko Leino, Patria’s Executive Vice President of Operations. He added that the investment is also a key step in strengthening the European Defence Technological and Industrial Base (EDTIB).

Patria has secured orders for over 800 Patria 6×6 vehicles and has delivered more than 200 under the joint Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme, which includes Finland, Latvia, Sweden, and Germany. The programme has attracted growing interest from other European nations.

Additionally, Patria’s AMV XP 8×8 vehicle projects are progressing in countries such as Slovakia and Japan.

Besides the Hämeenlinna facility, Patria also produces Patria 6×6 vehicles at its Valmiera production facility in Latvia, which began operations in May 2024. While pre-series armoured vehicles are typically produced at Patria’s production facilities, most deliveries are carried out through partnerships with local industries in the purchasing countries.
