In a significant development aimed at bolstering national security, Pakistan has approved the establishment of the National Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Center (NIFTAC). The decision was made during the 5th meeting of the Board of Governors of the National Counter-Terrorism Authority (NACTA), held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The National Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Center (NIFTAC) will serve as a centralized platform for intelligence integration and threat assessment, playing a pivotal role in Pakistan’s counter-terrorism strategy.
Dr. Khalid Chauhan, National Coordinator of NACTA, delivered a comprehensive briefing to the board members, outlining the strategic significance of the new center. All of Chauhan’s recommendations were unanimously approved.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that NIFTAC was established after extensive consultation with relevant stakeholders and will serve as a critical pillar in the fight against terrorism.
“The establishment of this institution will prove to be an important step towards achieving the real objectives of NACTA,” said Naqvi, highlighting the center’s role in fully implementing the National Action Plan.
Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry also addressed the gathering, stating that NIFTAC will significantly enhance NACTA’s operational capacity and effectiveness.
The National Intelligence Fusion Center is expected to foster better coordination among intelligence agencies and provide actionable threat assessments to support timely decision-making by national security institutions.
