Anduril Advances Hypersonic Capabilities with Successful Rocket Motor Test for U.S. Navy

Anduril Industries achieved a significant milestone last month with two successful live-fire tests of its 21-inch hypersonic rocket motor, developed for the U.S. Navy’s STANDARD Missile Program. Conducted in close coordination with the Navy, the tests validated the performance and production readiness of the motor, marking a crucial step toward the full-scale production of this next-generation capability.

The rapid and iterative design phase completed by Anduril demonstrates a new model for collaboration and innovation within the defense sector. With this achievement, the company is positioned to swiftly transition from prototype to production, significantly enhancing the Navy’s missile program with advanced hypersonic propulsion.

To meet the rising demand for critical defense technologies, Anduril has invested over $75 million in the expansion and modernization of its solid rocket motor (SRM) production facility in Mississippi. The upgraded site, set to be completed by July this year, will play a key role in scaling up manufacturing capacity to support ongoing and future defense programs.

Anduril’s approach to SRM production incorporates single-piece flow manufacturing, automation, and advanced data analytics to drive efficiency, increase quality, and reduce costs. The recent successful test serves as a key validation of these modern manufacturing practices, which aim to reinvigorate and strengthen the U.S. industrial base.

As an independent merchant supplier, Anduril Rocket Motor Systems is leading efforts to reshape hypersonic propulsion manufacturing. The successful test not only underscores the performance of the 21-inch motor but also highlights a broader shift toward faster, cost-effective, and scalable production methods.

“With the defense landscape becoming increasingly competitive, Anduril remains committed to delivering the advanced solutions our nation and allies need to maintain technological and strategic superiority,” the company stated.
