Saab expands in Gothenburg with the establishment of a new multifunctional facility in Mölnlycke, Härryda municipality, in response to rising global demand for advanced radar and sensor systems. The new site will enhance Saab’s production and delivery capacity while supporting its rapid recruitment efforts and technological innovation.
Saab’s Gothenburg-based operations are a global hub for the development and production of airborne and ground-based radar systems, including flagship platforms like the GlobalEye Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) aircraft and the renowned Giraffe radar family. The new facility in Mölnlycke will accommodate approximately 500 workstations, complementing the company’s existing site in Kallebäck.
“In order to meet the high demand for our world-leading capabilities, we are expanding our operations in the Gothenburg region with additional office space and production capacity,” said Carl-Johan Bergholm, Head of Saab’s business area Surveillance. “Gothenburg has a strong cluster of microwave competence as well as universities and other industry. We look forward to continuing to grow and create jobs in the region.”
This expansion follows Saab’s recent establishment of additional radar and sensor production sites in Halmstad (Sweden), Finland, and the United Kingdom, marking the company’s strategic global growth.
Currently employing around 3,200 personnel in Gothenburg, Saab continues to invest in Swedish defense industrial capabilities while contributing to regional job creation and innovation leadership.
