Raytheon Secures $580 Million U.S. Navy Contract for Next Generation Jammer Mid-Band System

Raytheon, an RTX business, has been awarded a $580 million follow-on production contract by the U.S. Navy for the Next Generation Jammer Mid-Band (NGJ-MB) system. The contract includes additional production pod shipsets, spares, and support equipment, extending the system’s capabilities to both U.S. Navy and Royal Australian Air Force operations.

The NGJ-MB is a key component in advancing offensive electronic warfare capabilities. It provides critical protection for strike packages, high-value airborne assets, and kinetic weapon systems by countering modern radar, communications, and electronic threats.

“Offensive Electronic Attack provides a tremendous combat capability, protecting strike packages, kinetic weapons and high-value airborne assets across a broad range of missions,” said Barbara Borgonovi, President of Naval Power at Raytheon. “With this contract, we’ll ensure that our naval aviators in all theaters are better prepared to counter adversary threats and support the Joint Fight.”

Developed jointly with the Royal Australian Air Force, the NGJ-MB is an airborne electronic attack system integrated onto the EA-18G Growler aircraft. It consists of two pods housing active electronically scanned arrays that operate in the mid-band frequency spectrum to neutralize advanced radar and electronic threats.

The program exemplifies close U.S.-Australian defense collaboration and ensures both nations maintain a strategic edge in electronic warfare.

Production work under the contract will be carried out across multiple Raytheon facilities, including Forest, Mississippi; McKinney, Texas; El Segundo, California; and Andover, Massachusetts. Deliveries are scheduled through 2028.
