Patria has successfully completed test firings of its latest innovation in artillery systems, the Patria ARVE (ARtillery on VEhicle), a 155mm mobile field gun designed for Arctic conditions. The test campaign marks a significant milestone for the system, which was first unveiled in March 2025 during the international Arctic Event in Lapland.
Built upon the proven Patria 155K98 field artillery system and mounted on a robust Sisu all-terrain truck chassis, the ARVE integrates advanced mobility with heavy firepower, ensuring rapid deployment and operational efficiency in the most challenging environments. The platform is fully domestically produced and tailored to meet the requirements of the Finnish Defence Forces while maintaining full compatibility with NATO artillery standards.
The test firings, conducted in June, involved dozens of rounds fired at varying elevations and side angles, including direct fire scenarios. Despite being subjected to high overpressure charges, the system consistently demonstrated its reliability, accuracy, and structural endurance.
The ARVE system is designed with a modular architecture, allowing ease of maintenance and streamlined logistics. It supports interoperability across Finland’s existing artillery fleet and utilizes both domestic and NATO-standard ammunition and fire control systems.
“This achievement underscores Patria’s commitment to enhancing Finland’s artillery capabilities with fully indigenous and highly mobile solutions,” a company representative stated. “ARVE is engineered to excel in extreme environments and aligns with the operational doctrines of rapid maneuver warfare.”
With successful trials completed, the ARVE system is expected to be a strong candidate for future acquisitions by Nordic and allied forces seeking cost-effective, high-mobility artillery systems suitable for diverse terrains.
