At IDEF 2025, Turkish defense manufacturer BMC reaffirmed its commitment to delivering Türkiye’s long-awaited ALTAY main battle tank to the armed forces. In an update shared by BMC at the fair, the company confirmed that the project has entered its final phase. “We are no longer talking about months,” said Chairman Fuat Tosyali, noting that deployment is imminent and will be officially announced under the President’s program.
ALTAY’s presence at IDEF comes with renewed importance. Often called Türkiye’s “project of the century,” ALTAY features an advanced 120mm smoothbore main gun, a next-gen fire control system with thermal and laser targeting, and a comprehensive protection suite including spall liners, active protection, and CBRN sensors. Its command-control systems include a multi-band digital joint radio and new-generation internal comms.
