L3Harris Technologies has announced a major expansion of its VAMPIRE Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) platform, unveiling a family of new variants tailored for land, maritime, air, and electronic warfare operations. The development underscores L3Harris’ ability to swiftly meet the U.S. Department of War and allied partners’ growing demand for accurate, affordable, and scalable anti-drone capabilities.
A Multi-Domain Counter-UAS Solution
The VAMPIRE (Vehicle-Agnostic Modular Palletized ISR Rocket Equipment) is a self-contained, modular system that provides advanced reconnaissance and precision strike capabilities against drones and remotely piloted aircraft. Having supported European combat operations since 2023, the system has earned recognition for its operational success and cost-effectiveness in active conflict zones.
“L3Harris VAMPIRE Counter-UAS users have successfully shot down hundreds of enemy drones,” said Jon Rambeau, President of Integrated Mission Systems at L3Harris.
“Compared to traditional missile systems, VAMPIRE greatly reduces the cost per effect to defend against drone attacks.”

Enhanced Capabilities with AI and Non-Kinetic Effects
Building upon the proven baseline VAMPIRE system, L3Harris has integrated new sensor technologies, precision weapons, electronic jammers, and non-kinetic effects to enhance performance across multiple domains. The latest versions also employ artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) algorithms to enable faster target detection, engagement, and neutralization of small, elusive unmanned threats.
The system’s modular design allows rapid deployment across various platforms — from light tactical vehicles to maritime vessels — ensuring flexibility and interoperability for both U.S. and allied forces.
Part of a Broader Counter-UAS Strategy
The expanded VAMPIRE family represents a key component of L3Harris’ Counter-Unmanned Systems initiative, a company-wide effort to develop integrated, cost-efficient, and reliable solutions to combat the rapidly evolving global drone threat.
With decades of experience in electronic warfare, sensors, and precision weapons, L3Harris continues to advance technologies that enhance situational awareness and defense readiness across the joint battlespace.
