Pakistan’s emerging defense technology company, Winged Innovative Solutions (WIS), showcased its latest lineup of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) at the Pakistan International Maritime Exhibition and Conference (PIMEC 2025). The display featured the Sarfrosh loitering munition, the Ranger VTOL UAV, and a series of first-person view (FPV) drones, underlining Pakistan’s growing self-reliance in the field of unmanned systems and tactical aerial platforms.
Sarfrosh Loitering Munition: A New Indigenous Strike Capability
The highlight of WIS’s exhibit was the Sarfrosh, a ground- and ship-launched loitering munition designed for precision strike missions. Featuring canister-based launch capability, the Sarfrosh offers flexibility for tactical, naval, and border security operations.
Engineered for autonomous target acquisition and real-time guidance, the system combines endurance and accuracy, enabling operators to neutralize high-value targets with minimal collateral damage. Its modular design allows for various warhead configurations, making it adaptable across multiple mission profiles.
Ranger VTOL UAV: Bridging Endurance and Flexibility
Alongside Sarfrosh, Winged Innovative Solutions presented the Ranger VTOL UAV, a Vertical Take-Off and Landing unmanned aerial vehicle developed for surveillance, reconnaissance, and tactical support missions. The Ranger’s hybrid propulsion and long-endurance capability make it suitable for both maritime patrols and land-based operations, even in GPS-denied environments.
Equipped with Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) sensors and advanced communication links, the UAV provides persistent situational awareness for defense and law enforcement applications.
FPV Drones: Enhancing Tactical Edge
Complementing its high-end systems, WIS also unveiled a line of FPV (First-Person View) drones designed for short-range tactical engagements. These drones offer real-time visual feedback, making them ideal for urban warfare, training, and rapid-response missions.
Driving Pakistan’s UAV Innovation Ecosystem
A company representative at PIMEC 2025 noted that Winged Innovative Solutions aims to “advance Pakistan’s indigenous unmanned capabilities through scalable, export-ready technologies.” The firm’s integrated product portfolio demonstrates Pakistan’s rapid technological progression in autonomous aerial warfare systems, aligning with global defense trends emphasizing unmanned and AI-enabled platforms.
