United States has approved sale of 800 AGM-144R2 missiles to Australia, following Australia’s acquisition of AH-64E and MH-60MR helicopters. This arms deal worth $108 million.
The principal contractor of this arms deal will be Lockheed Martin Corporation. In a press release, also stated that, “This proposed sale will improve Australia’s capability to meet current and future threats by enhancing the Australian Army’s armed reconnaissance and anti-tank warfare mission capabilities.”

AGM-114R2 is a air-to-ground anti-tank guided missile, designed and manufactured by Lockheed Martin. This is capable of hitting armored vehicles including Main Battle Tanks (MBTs), Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), SAM sites, bunkers, etc. It has a striking range of approximately seven to eleven kilometers.
