The ISPR chief stated that a threat of “re-emerging sleeper cells” in Pakistan has been there with deteriorating situation in Afghanistan.
He was talking with TV channel 92 News in a special transmission with Dr. Moeed Pirzada, where he stressed that instability in Afghanistan will lead to instability in Pakistan and they have no suspicions in it.
Gen Iftikhar further emphasized that there are possible challenges of “restoration of terrorist groups in Balochistan that can nexus with hostile agencies”.
Over asking what measures Pakistan is doing to tackle these threats DG ISPR responded;
“We have been going through this process for a long period of time including Afghan Peace Process”.
He elaborated the measures taken by Pakistan army with 90 % of fencing has been completed on Pak Afghan border line and soon it ll be finished, adding that work to fence the Pakistan-Iran border has also been expedited.
When talking about Indian role in Afghan crisis, Gen Iftikhar said that India had
“gigantic influence” and the purpose of its investment in the country was to destabilise Pakistan.
I think the biggest spoiler in this [peace] deal in [Afghanistan] is India,” ISPR chief said.
