Afghan Taliban have captured Salma Dam, made by India at the cost of $300 million

In a major breakthrough, Afghan Taliban has captured Salma Dam, which is also known as India-Afghanistan friendship dam. This dam is located in Afghan province herat. This dam has a water storage capacity of 600 metric cubic metres and irrigation capacity of about 2,00,000 acres of farmland.

This Dam is considered as the most expensive project of India in war wounded Afghanistan. India spent about $300 million in the construction of this project.

Previous Attacks on Salma Dam

In the month of July, 16 security personnel was killed in a attack by taliban on this dam. In the inital days of August, Afghan Taliban again attacked this dam and tried to capture it.
