BAE Systems and IDV Sign MoU to Collaborate on BvS10 Vehicle for Italian Market

BAE Systems Hägglunds and Iveco Defence Vehicles (IDV) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to pursue a strategic BvS10 Italian collaboration, aimed at localizing the design and manufacturing of the BvS10 all-terrain vehicle for Italy.

The agreement highlights a mutual commitment to leverage the strengths of both companies—combining BAE Systems’ technical expertise with IDV’s industrial capabilities and the skilled Italian workforce—to deliver advanced and tailored mobility solutions for the Italian Armed Forces.

“We are proud to collaborate with Iveco Defence Vehicles to strengthen the operational capabilities of the Italian Armed Forces,” said Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, General Manager of BAE Systems Hägglunds. “This partnership combines the technical expertise of both companies, ensuring the BvS10 is tailored to support Italy’s defence need. It also reinforces our commitment to enhancing European defence capabilities and bolstering the industry’s growth.”

The BvS10, recognized as a global leader in all-terrain vehicle solutions, is designed to deliver exceptional operational mobility across the harshest environments—including snow, ice, mountains, swamps, and coastal waters—thanks to its amphibious and articulated design. The platform’s modular nature allows it to be configured for a wide range of missions, such as troop transport, command and control, medical evacuation, vehicle recovery, and weapons carriage.

This BvS10 Italian collaboration builds on the longstanding cooperation between BAE Systems and IDV, previously demonstrated in successful defense projects. The initiative aims to ensure national supply chain resilience while enhancing the interoperability of Italy’s defense assets with allied nations.

The BvS10 is currently in service with Austria, France, the Netherlands, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine. By adopting this platform, the Italian Army will align itself with existing NATO operators, promoting logistical and operational commonality across European forces.

The partnership between BAE Systems and IDV represents a strategic advancement in Italy’s defense modernization and industrial participation, paving the way for stronger national capabilities and increased integration in European defense networks.
