BNS Somudra Joy is set to participate in the 9th Multinational Maritime Exercise AMAN 2025, hosted by the Pakistan Navy from 7–11 February 2025 in Karachi. The event will bring together naval forces, special operations teams, and observers from over 60 countries under the theme “Together for Peace.”
The participation of BNS Somudra Joy highlights Bangladesh’s commitment to strengthening regional maritime cooperation and addressing shared security challenges in the Indian Ocean Region. The vessel will engage in various activities, including the Harbour Phase—featuring seminars, operational discussions, and international engagements—and the Sea Phase, which includes anti-piracy drills, counterterrorism operations, and tactical naval exercises.
BNS Somudra Joy (F28) is a guided missile frigate of the Bangladesh Navy. Originally commissioned as the USS Jarvis (FF-706) in the United States Navy, the vessel was later transferred to Bangladesh under the Excess Defense Articles (EDA) program. Its participation in AMAN 2025 reflects Bangladesh’s growing role in promoting maritime security and regional stability.
