Pakistani defense technology firm Beyond Koncept unveiled its indigenously developed ISRAR Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) at the Pakistan International Maritime Exhibition and Conference (PIMEC 2025), marking a significant step forward in the nation’s underwater systems development.
The ISRAR, described as a hidden/covert AUV, has been designed for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions in maritime environments. With a length of 3.2 meters and a diameter of 0.3 meters, the system weighs under 150 kilograms and can reach a maximum speed of 7 knots. It boasts an operating depth of up to 300 meters and an endurance of four hours, covering a range of approximately 20 nautical miles.
Equipped with four tunnel thrusters, the ISRAR offers hovering capability for precision maneuvering during critical underwater missions. Its navigation suite includes autopilot, GPS, and Doppler Velocity Log (DVL) systems, while RF communication enables surface-level data exchange.
For sensor integration, the vehicle carries a comprehensive payload including side-scan sonar (SSS), forward-looking sonar (FLS), conductivity-temperature-depth (CTD) sensors, as well as cameras and lights for detailed underwater observation.
A spokesperson from Beyond Koncept stated that ISRAR is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s indigenous maritime capabilities and contribute to the nation’s blue economy and underwater domain awareness initiatives.
The unveiling of ISRAR at PIMEC 2025 underscores the growing momentum of Pakistan’s defense innovation sector, particularly in autonomous and unmanned maritime technologies, an area increasingly vital for both military and civil applications.
