In order to save their beloveds, people struggled in search of beds, oxygen and medicines. The deadly wave soon reached rural parts of the country after hitting the cities.
Hundreds of casualities occured due to poor or no access to quality healthcare. Most of them were not even able to get a Covid test done.

The number of deaths in rural India is much higher than official statistics as stated by the experts.
