Denmark has officially entered the serial procurement phase of the multinational Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) programme, placing an order for 129 Patria 6×6 armoured vehicles. This milestone follows the signing of three key agreements—R&D, Frame, and Life Cycle Management (LCM)—marking the final steps in Denmark’s full integration into the joint initiative.
The CAVS programme, led by Finnish defence company Patria, is a collaborative effort to enhance interoperability and secure supply chains among European allies. Denmark becomes the fifth country to join, following Finland, Latvia, Sweden, and Germany. The first batch of Denmark’s Patria 6×6 vehicles will be delivered before the end of 2025.
Strengthening Interoperability and Supply Chains
“This swift move by Denmark into the serial procurement phase is an excellent example of modern multinational cooperation, aiming to increase interoperability and supply security among allied nations,” said Mats Warstedt, Vice President, Market Area Nordics at Patria.
Warstedt emphasized the strategic importance of the CAVS framework, describing it as “a prime example for creating the desired common defence capabilities in a quick and cost-effective manner.”
The Patria 6×6 vehicle is designed to offer protected mobility and system integration for troop transport. Built on more than four decades of development experience, the vehicle has become a core asset for participating CAVS nations. To date, Patria has received orders for nearly 1,000 vehicles and has delivered more than 200.
Local Industry and Future Cooperation
An important aspect of the programme is its emphasis on local industry participation. Vehicle deliveries will leverage the industrial capabilities of CAVS member nations, further reinforcing regional supply security and shared technical standards.
The programme remains open to additional countries with compatible requirements, contingent on the mutual agreement of current members.
DALO Industry Days to Showcase CAVS Vehicle
Patria and its 6×6 CAVS armoured vehicle will be on display at Denmark’s largest defence industry event, DALO Industry Days, held in Ballerup on 20–21 August 2025. The exhibition, hosted by the Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO), will showcase Denmark’s newest defence acquisition alongside other strategic platforms.
With this acquisition, Denmark takes a substantial step toward modernizing its land forces while reinforcing its role in Europe’s evolving defence cooperation framework.
