Electro Optic Systems (EOS) Launches New R500 Remote Weapon System at IDEX 2025

Electro Optic Systems (EOS) has introduced the R500, an advanced Remote Weapon System (RWS) designed to enhance remote lethality, precision, and adaptability in complex combat scenarios. Unveiled at the International Defence Exhibition & Conference (IDEX) 2025 in Abu Dhabi, the R500 incorporates AI-driven targeting, high-elevation Counter-UAS (C-UAS) capabilities, and multi-weapon adaptability to address the evolving challenges of modern warfare.

Building on the success of the R400, the R500 offers superior lethality, enhanced situational awareness, and increased survivability. Designed for armored vehicles and tactical platforms, it delivers exceptional firepower, the highest stowed ammunition capacity, and versatile integration of missiles, rockets, and other advanced effectors—making it a highly effective solution for high-threat environments.

Dr. Andreas Schwer, CEO of EOS, stated, “As the modern battlefield rapidly evolves, armed forces require systems that can keep pace with emerging threats. The R500 is developed with direct operational insights to ensure reliability, precision, and adaptability in the most challenging conditions. Its debut at IDEX 2025 underscores EOS’ commitment to providing defense forces with cutting-edge solutions that enhance operational effectiveness and survivability.”

The system is equipped with a high-resolution sensor unit featuring advanced C-UAS capabilities, including C-UAS radar, AI-powered targeting algorithms, and elevated targeting functions for superior situational awareness and threat detection. STANAG Level 2 add-on armor enhances protection in high-threat environments, while its digital low-latency architecture and high-performance edge AI hardware optimize fire control and command efficiency.

Additionally, the R500 is UGV-ready, incorporating a next-generation wireless control suite for seamless coordination with unmanned ground vehicles, enabling both remote and autonomous operations.
