France, Italy, and the UK Boost Aster Missile Production for Enhanced Air Defense

In a major step toward strengthening European air defense, OCCAR-EA Director Joachim Sucker, representing France, Italy, and the UK, and eurosam Managing Director Anne Diaz De Tuesta have signed the 15th Amendment to the FSAF-PAAMS Sustainment & Enhancement (S&E) Contract. This amendment will accelerate the production of Aster 30 B1 and Aster 15 missiles, enhancing ground and naval air defense capabilities across the three nations.

Key Highlights:

  • New Missile Production: A fresh batch of Aster 30 B1 ground and naval missiles and Aster 15 naval missiles will be manufactured to meet growing defense needs.
  • Enhanced Production Capabilities: The amendment focuses on optimizing European production to speed up missile delivery for the French Air Force, Italian Air Force, Italian Army, and the navies of France, Italy, and the UK.
  • Strategic Defense Collaboration: This contract was developed in coordination with national defense procurement agencies, including Italy’s SGD, France’s DGA, and the UK’s DE&S.
  • Faster Deployment: With improved manufacturing efficiency, eurosam and MBDA will ensure that the Aster missile variants are delivered within a shorter timeframe.
  • Strengthening European Defense: The amendment reinforces existing military cooperation among the three nations, ensuring their air defense systems remain prepared for emerging threats.

OCCAR-EA, eurosam, MBDA, and Thales will continue leading the advancement of next-generation air defense systems, supporting the security and operational readiness of European forces.
