Germany Ready to Allow Eurofighter Sales to Saudi Arabia

Germany is ready to allow the sale of Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock announced on Sunday. This announcement also ends the ban on the Eurofighter Typhoon sale to Saudi Arabia, which Germany has been pursuing since 2018.

The United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and Spain manufacture Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft and each can veto the sale of this aircraft to any country. Germany already blocked one arms deal with Saudi Arabia due to the murder of Saudi Journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

“We do not see the German government opposing British considerations for more Eurofighters for Saudi Arabia,” Baerbock, German Foreign Minister, told reporters in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Saudi Arabia also operates the Eurofighter Typhoon and planning to procure more but due to German cause, Saudi Arabia didn’t finalize the deal of 48 aircraft even though Saudi Crown Prince, Muhammad Bin Salman signed the deal with the United Kingdom.
