In a significant move to bolster defense technology cooperation, HAVELSAN, a leading Turkish defense and IT solutions provider, and Karel Europe, the Romania-based subsidiary of Karel, signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the IDEF 2025 International Defense Industry Fair.
The agreement aims to deliver advanced integrated solutions tailored to the needs of the Romanian defense industry by combining HAVELSAN’s expertise in C4ISR, command & control, simulation, and cybersecurity with Karel’s strengths in military communications and electronic systems.
Under the MoU, the two companies will jointly pursue business development initiatives and collaborate operationally on future defense and information technology projects across Romania.
Şevket Ünal, Vice President of International Business Development and Marketing at HAVELSAN, emphasized the growing engagement with Romania, stating:
“Last year, HAVELSAN successfully delivered e-maritime solutions to Romania, marking our first export to an EU country. This new partnership with Karel Europe opens the door to future military and civilian technology projects.”
Yavuz Bayız, Head of Karel’s Defense Technologies Group, commented on the collaboration:
“This MoU is a major step toward expanding our defense industry presence in Europe. By combining Karel’s engineering capabilities with HAVELSAN’s software-driven solutions, we aim to deliver high-value, integrated systems to the Romanian defense sector.”
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to technological innovation, regional cooperation, and European defense industry integration.
