Kalashnikov Showcases UAVs and Small Arms to International Delegates in Moscow

The latest defense technologies from Kalashnikov Concern attracted strong interest from international delegations at the XIII International Meeting of High-Ranking Officials Responsible for Security Matters, held in Moscow from May 27–29, 2025. Representatives from over 25 countries attended the event, where they were introduced to a wide array of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and small arms developed by Russia’s leading defense manufacturer.

Among the systems that drew the most attention were the SCAT 350M UAV, the CUB-2E loitering munition, the Goliath and Karakurt-R reconnaissance quadcopters, and a range of modern small arms, including the 7.62mm AK-15, 5.56mm AK-19, 9mm PPK-20 submachine gun, 7.62mm Chukavin sniper rifle (SVCh), 9mm Lebedev Compact pistol (PLK), and the 5.45mm RPL-20 belt-fed light machine gun.

The SCAT 350M UAV is a serially produced platform widely used in operational zones. Known for its extended flight time and range, it is equipped with high-performance payloads, including optical and infrared cameras. Its primary roles include aerial surveillance, target acquisition, and precision guidance for strike systems.

The CUB-2E loitering munition is designed to strike moving targets and is distinguished by its low acoustic signature, ease of use, and rapid deployment. It can also be launched in synchronized groups—up to four munitions from a single ground control station.

The Goliath and Karakurt micro and mini UAVs are intended for real-time battlefield reconnaissance in all conditions. Goliath is suitable for platoon-level deployment, while Karakurt is optimized for individual use. Both drones are capable of autonomous return and safe landing in emergency situations.

On the small arms front, the AK-15 and AK-19 rifles are derived from the AK-12 platform. The AK-15 is chambered in 7.62×39mm for Russian forces, while the AK-19 is chambered in 5.56×45mm NATO for international users. The PPK-20 submachine gun is compact and modular, supporting modern suppressors and optics.

The SVCh (Chukavin Sniper Rifle) represents a new generation of Russian sniper rifles, capable of engaging personnel and light vehicles at ranges up to 1,000 meters. It features modern ergonomics and compatibility with a wide variety of optics.

The PLK (Lebedev Compact Pistol) is a 9×19mm short-barreled sidearm designed for law enforcement and military use.

The RPL-20 light machine gun, recently delivered in its first production batch, features belt-fed ammunition (100–200 rounds) and is designed to deliver high rates of sustained fire. It includes an extended Picatinny rail for accessory flexibility and is intended to neutralize enemy personnel and unarmored assets.

The event highlighted Kalashnikov Concern’s evolving portfolio and its increasing relevance in both conventional and asymmetric warfare domains. The strong interest from foreign delegates underscores Russia’s continued efforts to expand its global defense exports despite international challenges.
