Lockheed Martin Delivers Five More Black Hawk Helicopters to Philippine Air Force

Lockheed Martin has delivered five Sikorsky Black Hawk helicopters to the Philippine Air Force (PAF). The latest delivery boosts the PAF’s operational flexibility and fleet strength. It also reflects the Philippines’ push to modernize its air capabilities. This is a milestone for Philippine Air Force towards expanding its role in the global Black Hawk operator community.

Expanding the Black Hawk Fleet

The additional aircraft bolster the PAF’s growing fleet. This fleet has become central to both national defense and disaster response. The Black Hawk’s versatility allows it to support a wide range of missions. Missions include troop transport and maritime security to humanitarian aid and firefighting.

Bill Blair highlighted the helicopter’s strategic value. “The Sikorsky Black Hawk helicopter has proven track record in enhancing joint readiness. It has been demonstrated in exercises like Cope Thunder 2025. It will continue to drive cooperation and commonality between the United States and the Philippines,” Blair said. Blair is the Vice President of Lockheed Martin and Regional Chief Executive for Asia.

Strengthening Interoperability with Allies

The Philippine Air Force has been integrating Black Hawks into joint exercises with allied forces. In April, the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing partnered with the Philippine Navy aboard BRP Davao del Sur for joint training. In May, Black Hawks participated in Cope Thunder Philippines alongside U.S. Air Force aircraft. Therefore, providing both flight and field training opportunities. These exercises show the Hawk’s role in improving coordination between the Philippines and allied forces.

Disaster Relief and Humanitarian Missions

Beyond defense operations, the Black Hawk has played a critical role in humanitarian response. One of these relief and rescue operation took place during Super Typhoon Ofel in November. The Black Hawk transported relief supplies and supported rapid damage assessments in Cagayan.

The Black Hawk has also proven effective in firefighting missions. Last November, a massive blaze struck Tondo, Manila. The PAF deployed multiple helicopters for helibucket operations. During these operations, the Hawk completed 15 sorties to contain the fire.

A Commitment to Philippine Defense

With this latest delivery, the Philippine Air Force continues to expand its Black Hawk fleet. The aircraft’s adaptability ensures it remains central to both defense and disaster response missions.

“The delivery of these five new Black Hawk helicopters reinforces Lockheed Martin’s commitment to supporting the Philippine Air Force. We aim to continue contributing to the country’s defense capabilities,” the company said in a statement.
