The National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) and the Centre for International Strategic Studies (CISS) AJK have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance academic and research collaboration. The MoU was signed on March 27, 2025, at NIMA’s Head Office, Bahria University, Islamabad.
The agreement was formally endorsed with the signatures of Vice Admiral (Retd.) Ahmed Saeed HI(M), President of NIMA, and Dr. Asma Shakir Khawaja, Executive Director of CISS-AJK. The signing ceremony was attended by senior representatives from both institutions.
Vice Admiral Ahmed Saeed, while welcoming the CISS delegation, emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the two think tanks. He highlighted that the collaboration would foster high-quality research and support joint initiatives focused on Pakistan’s maritime affairs.
The MoU establishes a structured framework for cooperation, aiming to promote joint academic and research activities. The agreement will also facilitate knowledge-sharing and coordinated educational programs on strategic issues related to Pakistan’s maritime security and international affairs.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Asma Shakir Khawaja stated that the MoU would play a pivotal role in raising awareness among Pakistan’s youth through jointly organized educational activities. She stressed that the partnership would help cultivate a deeper understanding of maritime affairs and strategic challenges facing Pakistan.
This partnership reflects the commitment of NIMA and CISS-AJK to advancing research and academic excellence in maritime and strategic studies. The collaboration is expected to produce valuable insights and policy recommendations to enhance Pakistan’s maritime security and geopolitical standing.
