NIMA Concludes Four-Day Maritime Workshop Promoting Awareness and Capacity Building

The National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA) successfully concluded its four-day NIMA Maritime Workshop, which brought together students, professionals, and researchers to explore key maritime issues including the geo-strategic environment of the Indian Ocean, the Blue Economy, maritime law, climate change, and the integration of AI-enabled technologies in the maritime domain.

The closing ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief of Naval Staff (Operations), Vice Admiral Raja Rab Nawaz HI(M) as the chief guest, who was warmly welcomed by NIMA President Vice Admiral (Retd) Ahmed Saeed HI(M). In his introductory remarks, Admiral Saeed underscored the strategic importance of maritime awareness and the need to engage youth in maritime discourse.

Commander (Retd) Asim Masood TBt briefed the chief guest with a comprehensive recap of the four-day workshop, outlining key sessions, expert contributions, and participant engagement.

In his concluding address, Vice Admiral Raja Rab Nawaz praised NIMA’s continued efforts in building maritime consciousness and commended the energy and enthusiasm shown by participants. He encouraged attendees to act as ambassadors of the Blue Economy and provide feedback to further improve future workshops.

Certificates were distributed to participants in recognition of their active involvement. The event served to enhance maritime knowledge, promote dialogue among stakeholders, and support NIMA’s mission of advancing maritime research, education, and strategic awareness in Pakistan.
