North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has inspected a newly established missile production facility, underscoring Pyongyang’s focus on strengthening its weapons manufacturing capabilities, state media reported on Monday.
The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said Kim toured the combined missile production line of a major munitions enterprise, examining the country’s current capacity and future prospects for missile development.
He was accompanied by senior members of the ruling Workers’ Party and top defense industry officials, highlighting the strategic importance of the facility.

The inspection comes as Kim prepares for his first multilateral diplomatic appearance since taking power in December 2011.
The 41-year-old leader is scheduled to attend a major military parade in Beijing on Wednesday, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
Global Leaders to Attend Beijing Parade
The Chinese-hosted event will bring together 26 foreign leaders, including heads of state and government from Russia, Indonesia, Pakistan, and India.
Kim’s attendance marks a rare departure from his usual isolation from international summits. He has never participated in United Nations sessions or other global multilateral gatherings during his leadership.
Background: Isolation Amid Sanctions
North Korea has remained under extensive international sanctions since 2006, when it first conducted a nuclear test. These sanctions have restricted its access to global trade and financing, driving Pyongyang to pursue self-reliant defense manufacturing programs.
