The Pakistan Air Force has successfully conducted the flight test of the indigenously developed Taimoor Air-Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM), marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s aerospace and defense modernization efforts and reinforcing the Pakistan Air Force’s growing precision-strike capabilities.

This test represents the first publicly announced missile test of the Taimoor Missile System, signaling a high level of technical maturity and operational confidence in the platform. The Taimoor missile was launched from a Pakistan Air Force Mirage-V combat aircraft assigned to No. 7 Squadron, known as the “Bandits.” The squadron is a frontline tactical attack unit operating under the No. 38 Tactical Attack Wing, a formation traditionally tasked with precision strike and deep-penetration missions.

The successful air-launch validated the missile’s integration with an operational fighter platform and confirmed its performance across key parameters, including navigation, guidance, and terminal accuracy.

Key Specifications of the Taimoor Missile

The Taimoor ALCM is designed as a long-range, precision-guided stand-off weapon optimized for high-threat environments. Key specifications include:

  • Warhead: Conventional

  • Target Set: Land and sea-based targets

  • Guidance: Advanced navigation and guidance system

  • Flight Profile: Very low-altitude, terrain-hugging

Its low-altitude flight capability allows it to evade hostile radar coverage and penetrate integrated air and missile defense systems, significantly enhancing survivability and strike effectiveness.

The successful test strengthens the Pakistan Air Force’s stand-off strike capability, providing greater operational flexibility while keeping launch aircraft outside heavily defended airspace.
