Pakistan Navy Inducts Fourth Offshore Patrol Vessel PNS YAMAMA at Jinnah Naval Base Ormara

The Pakistan Navy formally inducted its fourth Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV), PNS YAMAMA, during a ceremony held at Jinnah Naval Base, Ormara. Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Built by DAMEN Shipyard, Romania, PNS YAMAMA is a technologically advanced multipurpose platform featuring modern stealth capabilities, an integrated Command and Control system, and sophisticated sensors and weapons, enabling operations across a broad spectrum of maritime threats. The vessel’s induction strengthens Pakistan Navy’s capacity to defend national maritime interests, secure Sea Lines of Communication (SLOCs), and reinforce order at sea.

The ceremony highlighted the Pakistan Navy’s expanding operational presence along the western seaboard, particularly in support of strategic maritime domains such as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It also emphasized the role of the Navy in maintaining regional peace, maritime security, and the protection of critical maritime infrastructure.

Addressing the attendees, Admiral Naveed Ashraf underlined the significance of a capable and agile naval force amid evolving geo-strategic dynamics in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). He noted that the induction of PNS YAMAMA would bolster Pakistan’s ability to counter both conventional and non-conventional threats, ensuring the security of its maritime frontiers and contributing to safe international waters.

The Naval Chief also lauded DAMEN Shipyard Galati and the entire project team for their professionalism and timely delivery of the vessel, reflecting strong bilateral relations and industrial cooperation between Pakistan and Romania.

The event was attended by senior Pakistan Navy officers, government officials, and local dignitaries, marking a proud moment in the Navy’s ongoing modernization and maritime security efforts.
