Russia’s state arms export agency, Rosoboronexport, will participate in the 13th edition of the Iraq Defense Exhibition (IQDEX 2025), taking place in Baghdad from April 18 to 22, 2025. The company’s attendance reflects a clear strategic aim to expand its footprint in the Iraqi defense market and build on decades of military-technical cooperation.
At IQDEX 2025, Rosoboronexport will present a wide array of advanced Russian defense technologies including armored vehicles, air defense systems, drones, electronic warfare equipment, and small arms. The participation underscores Russia’s commitment to strengthening its defense ties with Iraq amid Baghdad’s broader efforts to modernize its military capabilities.
Strengthening Strategic Cooperation with Iraq
Iraq has been a key operator of Russian and Soviet-made defense platforms for decades. With changing regional dynamics and the need to reinforce homeland security, Iraqi defense planners are actively exploring modern solutions across ground, air, and cyber domains.
Among the systems expected to be showcased at Rosoboronexport’s booth are:
• T-90S main battle tank, already deployed by Iraqi armored forces
• Pantsir-S1 air defense system, effective against low-flying threats and precision-guided munitions
• Orlan-10 UAV, offering intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities
• A variety of Kalashnikov small arms, suited for both regular and special operations units
In addition to showcasing equipment, Rosoboronexport will promote integrated support services such as training, logistics, modernization, and technology transfer, aligning with Iraq’s long-term defense development goals.
