Russia’s state defense export agency, JSC Rosoboronexport, a subsidiary of Rostec State Corporation, has confirmed its participation in Indo Defense Expo 2025, to be held from June 11 to 14 at the Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran. The company will present a portfolio of over 250 advanced Russian defense products, aligned with Indonesia’s strategic rearmament objectives for the 2025–2029 period.
The Russian delegation’s participation follows a formal invitation extended by President Pravobo Subianto of the Republic of Indonesia during a meeting with President Vladimir Putin in 2024. Speaking ahead of the exhibition, Alexander Mikheev, Director General of Rosoboronexport, emphasized the strategic scope of Russia’s offerings:
“Rosoboronexport is organizing a unified Russian exposition at Indo Defense 2025, featuring modern, combat-proven systems tailored to the evolving needs of the Indonesian Armed Forces. Our proposals include the Su-57E fifth-generation multirole fighter, Su-35 4++ generation air superiority aircraft, IL-78MK-90A aerial refueling tankers, advanced UAV systems, Ka-52E and Mi-17 helicopters, as well as a wide array of guided missile systems such as the Kh-31PD and Kh-35UE.”
Given Indonesia’s expansive archipelagic geography—comprising over 17,000 islands and extensive maritime boundaries—Rosoboronexport will place a strong emphasis on naval capabilities. Featured platforms will include the Project 636 diesel-electric submarine, Bastion mobile coastal defense systems equipped with Yakhont and Rubezh-ME anti-ship cruise missiles, the Project 22160 patrol ship, Project 20382 Tigr-class corvette, and high-speed BK-16 and BK-10 assault boats, all of which are suited for operations in straits, rivers, and littoral environments.
In line with global trends favoring defense industrial cooperation, Rosoboronexport will also propose localized production initiatives. These include joint manufacturing of defense systems at Indonesian facilities, fostering technology transfer, industrial growth, and self-reliance within Indonesia’s defense sector.
During the exhibition, Rosoboronexport will hold consultations with senior representatives from all branches of the Indonesian Armed Forces and national security institutions. The company reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Indonesia in the development of a modern and capable defense force equipped to meet contemporary and future security challenges.
