Saab Secures SEK 550 Million Order for Giraffe 4A Radar Systems in Latin America

Swedish defense company Saab has announced a contract to deliver its Giraffe 4A radar systems along with associated services to an undisclosed country in Latin America. The deal is valued at approximately SEK 550 million.

Expanding Saab’s Presence in Latin America

The order marks the first land-based Giraffe 4A contract in Latin America, representing a key milestone in Saab’s growing footprint in the region. The advanced radar solution will enhance the customer’s land-based air surveillance capabilities and enable future software-based upgrades for long-term operational flexibility.

This milestone marks a significant step in expanding our presence in the region with advanced medium-range radar. This capability will provide our customer with state-of-the-art air surveillance capability,” said Carl-Johan Bergholm, Head of Saab’s Business Area Surveillance.

Giraffe 4A Radar Capabilities

The Giraffe 4A is a mobile, self-contained, digital sensor solution that delivers multi-functional air and sea surveillance capabilities. Its advanced design enables simultaneous tracking of a large number of objects, making it suitable for air defense, maritime security, and overall situational awareness.

By combining long-range detection with real-time target tracking, the system strengthens national defense infrastructures against both traditional and emerging aerial threats.
