Saab to Deliver Mobile Air Defence System to Czech Republic in SEK 1.8 Billion Deal

Saab has received a SEK 1.8 billion order from the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces of the Czech Republic for the supply of its advanced Mobile Short-Range Air Defence (MSHORAD) system. The deliveries are scheduled to take place between 2028 and 2030.

A Scalable and Mobile Air Defence Solution

The order includes mobile firing units equipped with the RBS 70 NG short-range missile system and Bolide missiles. These systems will be integrated onto the MARS S-330 vehicle, manufactured by Czech defense firm SVOS, enhancing mobility and rapid deployment capabilities.

The MSHORAD solution will also include a command-and-control system delivered jointly by a Czech partner and Saab, as well as a radar system already in operational use by the Czech Armed Forces.

“We are proud to continue supporting the Czech Armed Forces’ capability, who already operate our RBS 70 NG air defence system in its man-portable setup,” said Görgen Johansson, Head of Saab’s Business Area Dynamics. “Our MSHORAD solution complements this with a highly mobile configuration, providing additional protection for troops on the move.”

Enhancing Czech Republic’s Defence Capabilities

Saab’s MSHORAD is a modular, flexible, and vehicle-integrated system designed to detect, track, and engage aerial threats. It includes radar units for detection and tracking, firing units for neutralizing threats, and a fully integrated command-and-control system to ensure real-time battlefield awareness.
