STM Unveils Naval Platform at LIMA 2025, Highlights UAV Innovations

STM, a leading Turkish defense technology company, is set to unveil a brand-new naval platform design at the upcoming Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA 2025) in Malaysia. As part of its growing international footprint, STM will also showcase its advanced naval platforms and combat-proven tactical mini UAV systems to audiences from across Southeast Asia and beyond.

Under the leadership of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye, Secretariat of Defence Industries, STM has emerged as a key player in Türkiye’s naval modernization and UAV technology development. The company’s presence at LIMA 2025 reaffirms its commitment to expanding strategic defense partnerships across the Asia-Pacific region.

Naval Showcases to Include Malaysian Corvette and STM500 Submarine

From May 20 to 24, STM will display scale models of six naval projects, including the Malaysian Corvette (LMS Batch-2), a significant milestone as Türkiye’s first and only corvette export to the region. Other highlights include models of the I-Class Frigate (TCG ISTANBUL), Auxiliary Replenishment and Logistics Ship for the Portuguese Navy, STM MPAC Multi-Purpose Attack Craft, and the advanced STM500 Submarine.

In a symbolic gesture of bilateral defense cooperation, the TCG BÜYÜKADA (F-512)—a flagship corvette of the Turkish Navy built under the MİLGEM program—will sail to Langkawi to participate in the exhibition.

KARGU, TOGAN, and BOYGA UAVs to Be Showcased

STM will also present its combat-proven tactical mini UAVs, including the KARGU loitering munition, which has been exported to over 10 countries and is recognized for its precision-strike capabilities with both anti-personnel and armor-piercing payloads. The company’s surveillance UAV, TOGAN, currently operational with the Turkish Armed Forces, and the BOYGA ammunition-drop UAV will also be featured, reflecting STM’s innovation in drone warfare technologies.

Strategic Focus on Southeast Asia

Highlighting the importance of the region, STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz stated:

“As STM, we are proud to have initiated Türkiye’s first corvette export to the Asia-Pacific by designing and building three Ada-Class corvettes for the Royal Malaysian Navy. At LIMA 2025, we will unveil a new multi-mission naval platform and aim to strengthen cooperation through strategic partnerships in Southeast Asia.”

Güleryüz reaffirmed STM’s dedication to providing innovative, cost-effective, and mission-flexible defense solutions for allied navies from Portugal and Ukraine to Pakistan and Malaysia.

As Türkiye’s defense exports continue to rise, STM’s presence at LIMA 2025 positions the company as a vital contributor to regional security and technological cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.
