Türkiye’s premier naval defense company, STM, has officially unveiled its Multi-Role Support Ship (MRSS) design for the first time at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2025. This next-generation platform is engineered to support amphibious operations, serve as a floating logistics hub, and provide critical medical and evacuation support during crises.
Renowned for its engineering excellence and proven naval solutions across several countries, STM introduced this cutting-edge vessel as part of its expanding commitment to the modernization of regional naval forces.
A Future-Ready Platform for Amphibious and Humanitarian Missions
The MRSS, a fully indigenous design by STM engineers, is built for versatility. It is capable of executing amphibious landings, logistics support, humanitarian aid, and search and rescue (SAR) missions. With a 30-day endurance, the platform ensures long-term operational deployment at sea under both peacetime and wartime conditions.
Its configuration supports:
-
14 Main Battle Tanks
-
9 Assault Amphibious Vehicles
-
500 Amphibious Troops
-
2 x 15-ton Helicopters
-
2 x Landing Craft Utility (LCU)
-
Full medical and evacuation facilities
Güleryüz: MRSS Enhances Naval Flexibility
Speaking at the launch, Özgür Güleryüz, General Manager of STM, highlighted the significance of this development:
“We are proud to introduce our Multi-Role Support Ship here at LIMA for the first time. Designed with the operational needs of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) in mind, the MRSS offers flexible and efficient solutions for modern naval operations. This platform is a clear reflection of our engineering vision and commitment to global partnerships.”
He further added that STM continues to deliver next-generation vessels to friendly navies worldwide and has already started construction of three corvettes for RMN under the LMS Batch-2 project in Türkiye.
