U.S. Army Orders $89 Million in Oshkosh PLS A2 Vehicles Under FHTV V Contract

Oshkosh Defense LLC, a business of Oshkosh Corporation, has received an $89 million order from the U.S. Army Contracting Command – Detroit Arsenal (ACC-DTA) for the delivery of Palletized Load System (PLS) A2 vehicles, along with associated kits and installs. The order falls under the Army’s Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles (FHTV) V contract, which allows procurement of vehicles through August 2029.

Advanced Capabilities for Multi-Domain Operations

The PLS A2 represents the Army’s latest generation of heavy tactical vehicles, featuring advanced by-wire functionality that enables autonomous operation. It is also equipped with active safety systems designed to improve soldier protection and operational efficiency in complex and contested environments.

These advancements are central to the Army’s modernization priorities, ensuring secure sustainment across dispersed battlefields and supporting logistics in environments where supply lines are under threat. The vehicle’s open architecturealso provides a foundation for integrating future technologies, aligning with long-term transformation goals.

“This award underscores our commitment to partnering with the Army to modernize the heavy tactical fleet quickly and at scale,” said Pat Williams, Chief Programs Officer for Oshkosh Defense. “Together, we are delivering next-generation capabilities that keep Soldiers safer for today’s missions while providing a foundation to enable the fleet for the future fight.”

Part of the Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles

The Army’s FHTV program includes both the PLS A2 and the Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Truck (HEMTT) A4. By leveraging common militarized commercial components, the program reduces lifecycle costs and enables efficient integration of new and recapitalized variants.

Through recapitalization, the Army modernizes vehicles already in the fleet, extending service life while accelerating the delivery of upgraded capabilities to soldiers. This approach supports readiness while keeping modernization efforts cost-effective.

Long-Term Support for the U.S. Army

With the PLS A2 order, Oshkosh Defense continues to play a critical role in equipping the U.S. Army with vehicles capable of supporting multi-domain operations. Deliveries under the FHTV V contract ensure that heavy tactical fleets remain adaptable, resilient, and prepared for future challenges.

As battlefield logistics evolve, the PLS A2’s combination of autonomous-ready systems, modular design, and sustainment efficiency positions it as a cornerstone in the Army’s modernization strategy.
